The Bride Wore Ritzy April 23, 2008

Filed under: 97209,weddings — perfectlypearlgirl @ 12:44 pm

Want an opulent and luxurious wedding? From the New York Times…

We are in a new gilded age (though this is not a good time to remind us how the first one ended), and the weddings have blossomed to match. There was no better place to witness that phenomenon on Monday than the Wedding Salon, a luxury bridezilla convention that was founded by Tatiana Byron and held at Gotham Hall. The entrance fee was $75, but women (almost all were women) lined up around the block. By the end of the day, some 2800 people marched through the hall to talk with florists, caterers and honeymoon specialists.

In New York, luxury weddings are taken to another level: more personalized, more indulgent. A New York wedding could easily run in excess of $100,000, compared to $28,000 for the nationwide average, Ms. Byron said. (Of course, cost is all relative, as some cultures are arguably even more demanding that a wedding be celebrated in grand style).

The chocolate vendors ranged from those who offered personalized M&Ms with the couple’s names or even a custom chocolate profile for the special day.

We recently introduced the new event space at Andina, but have since gotten this great photo.

A Gathering Space
Tupai, borrowed from the Quechua word for “gathering space,” will accommodate up to 60 guests for a seated dinner and 100 guests for a stand-up reception or cocktail party. The menu will feature Andina’s NovoAndean cuisine, which combines traditional flavors and ingredients native to Peru with a global reach that draws from Spanish, Japanese and Cantonese culinary influences. Dishes are prepared using modern technique and presented with finesse and flair. The full bar will deliver both Andina’s classic and NovoAndean cocktails – from the Pisco Sour and Caipirinha to the Sacsayhuamán and Granada de Amor. Wines will be chosen from Andina’s award-winning list with the help of wine director Ken Collura.

Tupai features include:

* Fully stocked cocktail and wine bar

* Dedicated state-of-the-art kitchen

* Mezzanine space for musical performances or VIP seating

Asscher Cut Diamonds are extremely popular. It may surprise you to learn that this cut is actually a vintage style with a modern update. The modern asscher cut diamonds have more facets, a larger table, and smaller clipped corners than their vintage counterparts.

You can find a large selection of Asscher Cut Diamonds at Judith Arnell Jewelers in the Pearl District.
